How can I be notified when registration opens?

If registration has not yet opened, please sign up for our mailing list, and we will send out an email once registration opens.

If registration has opened and is full, please sign up for the waitlist on the registration page. If a registration becomes available, we will email those on the waitlist in the order they had signed up.

We highly encourage individuals to sign up for these options as registration tends to fill up quickly.

Please note the waitlist is separate from the mailing list; we encourage signing up for both if you can sign up for a different basic sail course.

Registration for the Spring course usually is published around March, or 1 month prior to the start of the course.

Summer and Fall courses are either published at the same time as that of the Spring course or around 1 month prior to the start of the respective course, depending on the organizer.

We are flexible with refunds. We typically have granted requests for cancellations and refunds, especially if requested at least 3 weeks prior to the course start date.

If you would like to request a refund, please Contact Us, changing the default "General Information" selection from the Send To dropdown menu to "Basic Educational Course Committee Chair".

Will I receive ASA certification upon successful completion of Basic Sail?
Will I receive ASA certification upon successful completion of Basic Sail?
No. Not at this time. Certifications provided by TASCA are applicable only within our organization.

Do you offer private sailing lessons?
Do you offer private sailing lessons?
No. Not at this time. Basic Sail lessons typically have 2 students to a boat. On occasion we may have 1 student in a boat depending on the number of instructors and students for the lesson.

Sailing in the Basic Sail course is taught on the American 14.6.

What happens after the Basic Sail course?
What happens after the Basic Sail course?
Upon successful completion of the Basic Sail course, we offer membership to the organization.

A membership allows access to sail at Meadow Lake and on the keelboat at World's Fair Marina on scheduled dates and to join member-only volunteer and social events and our advanced sailing courses. Most of all, it is an opportunity to connect and develop relationships with our members and community!

How can I become a member if I already know how to sail?
How can I become a member if I already know how to sail?
At this time, memberships are offered only upon passing the Basic Sail course tests (rigging, knots, sailing, and take home exam) and payment of the course fee.

As a result, individuals with prior sailing experience will sign up for the Basic Sail course and therefore have usually participated in the lessons with the rest of the students. Students may request to take the aforementioned tests at any time during the course, and so those with sailing experience always have the option to pass the tests and become members prior to the final lesson.

After signing up, please let us know that you have prior sailing experience so we may consider adding an extra student if you intend to complete the course early.

Please email us using the Contact Us page, changing the default "General Information" selection from the Send To dropdown menu to "Membership Committee Chair".



We highly encourage members to renew memberships during the scheduled renewal period each year. Automated emails are sent out with further details to those who have not renewed and will mention that there are additional fees incurred when renewing after the scheduled renewal period.
